zinnia darling
zinnia dearest
zinnia, don't you know?
if you leave me
i won't make it
zinnia, please don't go
my chrysanthemum
my precious flower of the day
zinnia; have you seen her?
won't she even look my way?
he looked out one morning
there she was: his sweet surprise
then somebody picked her from her bed before his eyes
he could not believe it
what he saw was just too cruel
tucked behind the ear of some girl zinnia barely knew
he pursued her through the market
to the thief's abode
where he saw a sight far worse than his mind could behold:
zinnia smiling, zinnia happy, zinnia's heart at rest
zinnia laying in repose upon this woman's breast
he burst through the doorway, look of horror on his face
patiently, she said "i wasn't yours in the first place"
he'd been made a fool of for the last time he could take
he's out in the woods now, so no one his heart can break
from the tales i've heard, our zinnia lived a happy life
singing in her garden to her lovely, loving wife
